Walter Moore

Walter Moore
Mr. Moore founded APPI Energy in 1996 and serves as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. Mr. Moore is responsible for all financial, employee, and executive matters. Mr. Moore applied his knowledge of associations and deregulated markets to create APPI Energy’s unique business and service model.

In 1987, Mr. Moore founded Niche Publishing. The firm created and published Healthcare Traveler magazine, the industry’s largest publication for travel healthcare professionals, and managed the marketing for several national healthcare associations. In 1980, Mr. Moore was President and founder of Trans Data Corporation, a market research and consulting firm specializing in the deregulation of the banking and financial services industry. 

Mr. Moore earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University in 1975. He received his Masters of Business Administration degree from Loyola University Maryland in 1985.

As a managing partner of APPI Energy, Mr. Payne is responsible for the development and management of APPI Energy’s consulting services, corporate operations, and legal matters.

During the past thirteen years at APPI Energy, Mr. Payne has advised commercial, governmental, institutional, industrial, and non-profit clients providing energy market analysis, energy supply risk management, energy supply contract negotiations, energy supplier due diligence, and review of regulatory markets.  Prior to APPI Energy, he worked for twenty years in financial services, corporate management, and investment banking.

A Delaware native, Mr. Payne received a Bachelor of Arts with honors from Wake Forest University in 1978. He then received a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1981 and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the George Washington University National Law Center, Washington, DC in 1983.  He has been a member of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia since 1982.
Kathleen Kiernan

As a managing partner of APPI Energy, Ms. Kiernan is responsible for large commercial account activities, developing strategic marketing plans, and oversight of APPI Energy’s marketing activities with national and state trade associations.

Prior to joining APPI Energy in 2001, Ms. Kiernan worked with two of the nation’s largest railroads in a range of managerial positions in sales and marketing.  She gained extensive experience in a deregulated industry developing expertise in various components of business-to-business commerce including product pricing, service, and supplier issues. Her experience includes time with a start-up business and two Fortune 500 companies.  Building customer relationships, assisting clients with problem resolution, and facilitating marketing and sales processes are some of Ms. Kiernan’s strengths.  

Ms. Kiernan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from LaSalle University, Philadelphia and a Master of Business Administration from Drexel University, Philadelphia.  In addition, Ms. Kiernan is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the national honor society for accredited business school students.

Mr. Sherman joined APPI Energy in 2003 and serves as Director of Consulting.  Mr. Sherman is responsible for managing and training APPI Energy’s team of Consultants. He also works directly with member businesses, specializing in manufacturing and healthcare.  Mr. Sherman earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and a Master’s of Business Administration, both from Salisbury University in Salisbury, MD.  He also received his Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP) designation in 2011.

Ms. Seagraves’ primary responsibilities include the development and implementation of marketing and sales initiatives with national, state, and local trade associations and other affinity groups that have endorsed APPI Energy as their exclusive energy and utility consulting firm. She also supports APPI Energy’s consultants in interaction with clients. 

Her twenty year career in marketing and business-to-business sales includes work as a Marketing Director for Perdue Farms, Inc., where she developed new consumer products for retail grocery stores and implemented marketing initiatives. Ms. Seagraves also managed several business lines, growing profits and market share. 

Ms. Seagraves received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics from High Point University, North Carolina, and a Master of Business Administration from the Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University, Maryland. A native of Salisbury, Maryland, she is active with many nonprofit entities in her local community, including the Delmarva Zoological Society and the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Committee.
